Updated Mustang Mach-E Includes New GT California Special

  • Mustang Mach-E gets enhanced range on Premium Extended Range models, Clear Exit Assist as standard and two striking new colours across the lineup
  • Ford’s new Mustang Mach-E GT California Special takes inspiration from the 1968 Ford Mustang California Special; new model now available across Europe
  • GT California Special gets Carbonised Grey 20-inch wheels, new Rave Blue details, special bonnet stripe inspired by California coastline, and unique Navy Pier interior

COLOGNE, Germany, March 24, 2026 Ford today announced further available updates to the Mustang Mach-E 1 electric SUV including the introduction of a new GT California Special model, harnessing the free spirit of the American West Coast.

The original Mustang California Special was introduced in 1968 to commemorate the California Ford dealers who were responsible for a large portion of all Mustang sales in the 1960s.

The Mustang Mach-E GT California Special takes inspiration from this, honouring the Mustang Mach-E’s place in the Mustang family, while giving it its own identity.

New 20-inch Carbonised Grey wheels with GT/CS logo and badges outlined in the new Rave Blue colour set the GT California Special apart. Across the bonnet is a unique stripe, which has the California Special wordmark with radiating sunset lines in layered grey, black, and a blue accent representing the ocean.

Inside, the Mustang Mach-E GT California Special features performance seats upholstered in Navy Pier ActiveX and Miko material with a reflective blue and silver stripe. The centre console and steering wheel also wrapped in the same navy ActiveX material, which is a high-end synthetic material that is easier to clean, resistant to staining and more durable than leather.

“The Mustang Mach-E GT California Special brings the legendary soul of the American West Coast to Europe, giving customers a unique way to enjoy our electric icon,” said Christian Weingaerter, general manager, Passenger Vehicles, Ford Europe. “The GT California Special and latest updates are part of our continuous focus on delivering what Mustang Mach-E customers are asking for, whether through new editions, over-the-air software updates or hardware upgrades.”

Further enhancements across the Mustang Mach-E range

There are updates across the Mustang Mach-E line-up too. For Premium Extended Range models, new lower rolling resistance tyres extend the driving range of both AWD and RWD versions to up to 555 km and 615 km respectively, an increase of 5 kms and 15 kms respectively.

Ford’s Clear Exit Assist technology, which uses sensors to detect cyclists, scooters and pedestrians approaching from behind and is designed to help prevent “dooring accidents” –where a warning is given if a car door is about to be opened into the path of people passing from behind – is now offered as standard in the Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS) pack, alongside:

  • Intelligent Adaptive Cruise Control 2
  • Pre-Collision Assist2
  • Blind Spot Information System & Cross Traffic Alert 2
  • Evasive Steering Assist2

Mustang Mach-E customers now also have two new striking colours to choose from. These include the dynamic and sporty Race Red and Adriatic Blue-Green, a unique metallic colour with deep hues.

The Mustang Mach-E is a leader in technology, being the first model to offer Ford’s BlueCruise 3 “hands-off, eyes-on” technology that allows drivers to take their hands off the steering wheel when travelling in designated Blue Zones. That technology is now expanding to select Puma and Puma Gen-E, Ranger PHEV and Kuga series from summer 2026.
