Ever Seen a Car Take on Gravity, DNA and Rocket Science? No? Watch This.

All-electric Mustang Mach-E highlights what electric vehicles can be capable of in new video series

Have you ever seen a car beat gravity and accelerate from a standstill past a falling chandelier, differentiate between identical twins or launch head-to-head with a rocket? In a new series of videos from Ford, the all-electric Mustang Mach-E takes on all these challenges. Spoiler alert: it wins.

Designed from the ground-up to change perceptions of what an electric car could and should be, the all-new Mustang Mach-E is the perfect vehicle to take a starring role. Not only does each episode highlight one of the key capabilities or technologies of Mustang Mach-E, the series, like the vehicle, also challenges common misconceptions about electric vehicles around range and performance.

The Mustang Mach-E wears the famous Mustang badge with pride and is the first-ever electrified vehicle to carry the name as well as the attitude. With the first vehicles arriving in Europe imminently, these videos signify the launch of Ford’s campaign to amp up excitement in the region as the electric ponies start to make their mark.

Video series

The four videos to be released in Europe include:

  • Mustang Mach-E v. Gravity: The torque in the 2021 all-electric Mustang Mach-E is powerful. But is it powerful enough to challenge the laws of gravity? See how the electric pony’s off-the-line performance fares against a falling chandelier. Watch Me
  • Mustang Mach-E v. Rocket Science: The range of the 2021 all-electric Mustang Mach-E is impressive. But what does an impressive range look like? A 3.5-metre rocket helps visualise the 610 km WLTP range* of the Mustang Mach-E with available extended-range battery and rear-wheel drive. Watch Me
  • Mustang Mach-E v. Pit Crew: Over-the-air update capabilities allow the 2021 all-electric Mustang Mach-E to update from almost anywhere. But can they compete with a mobile pit crew harnessed to the bed of a truck? Only one way to find out. Watch Me
  • Mustang Mach-E v. DNA: The 2021 all-electric Mustang Mach-E is capable of learning the behaviors and adapting to the preferences of individual drivers. But is it smart enough to tell the difference between identical ones? See what happens when the personalised technology in Mustang Mach-E takes on twins. Watch Me

Did you know?

Automotive comparison searches using “versus” have gone up – specifically around electric vehicles – by 64 percent in the past year**. This made it the perfect time to put Mustang Mach-E up against a series of “versus” challenges and attempt to shatter some misconceptions people may have about electric vehicles in the process.

The video series was produced in the USA and shot in part at the same location used in the 2019 blockbuster film about Ford vehicles at Le Mans in 1966, where they took on another type of challenge.

Quotes

“The arrival and launch of the Mustang Mach-E is such a thrilling moment for the company, and proof of how Ford is bringing on tomorrow! This video series aims to prove what’s possible with the Mach-E and shatter any preconceptions people have about electric vehicles. ‘Watch Me’ seemed the natural campaign platform to support Mach-E’s arrival in Europe, not just as a natural fit for the confidence of the car and what it’s capable of, but also emblematic of the swagger and pride customers will feel behind the wheel.”
