  • New Ranger model – launching in Europe late 2015 – remains the only pickup with 5-star rating from independent crash test authority Euro NCAP
  • New version of market-leading pickup also delivers advanced driver assistance features including Lane Keeping Aid, Adaptive Cruise Control  and Traffic Sign Recognition
  • New Ranger comes to market with a bold new look and enhanced engines that offer reductions in fuel consumption of up to 17 per cent**

The Ford Ranger is the No. 1 selling pickup in Europe with 25,500 vehicles sold in the first eleven months of 2015, a year-over-year increase of 32 per cent.

The current Ford Ranger has generated rapid sales growth in Europe since it was first introduced in late 2011. Ranger’s market share in Ford’s 20 traditional European markets* has risen from 11.7 per cent in 2012, to 23.5 per cent in the first ten months of this year placing Ranger in a market-leading position ahead of competitors including the Toyota Hilux, according to the latest Ford-sourced data.

Customer demand is accelerating as Ford prepares to launch a new Ranger model in late 2015, featuring a bold new design, cutting-edge technologies and improved fuel efficiency.

The new Ford Ranger Double Cab retains a maximum 2012 5-star rating from Euro NCAP; the only vehicle in its segment to receive the highest award from the independent crash test authority.

“Ranger’s combination of all-round capability, rugged styling and safety continues to prove unbeatable,” said Roelant de Waard, vice president, Marketing, Sales & Service, Ford of Europe. “Orders for our new Ranger are already running ahead of expectations – with particularly strong demand for the flagship Wildtrak model featuring exclusive exterior and interior design and a striking new Pride Orange signature colour.”

The new Ford Ranger features an array of driver assistance technologies for greater comfort and convenience, including Lane Keeping Alert and Lane Keeping Aid, Adaptive Cruise Control with Forward Alert, Traffic Sign Recognition, Front and Rear Park Assist, Rear View Camera, and a standard Electronic Stability Control system with rollover mitigation and trailer sway control.

Other smart technologies include Ford’s voice-activated SYNC 2 connectivity system, plus Hill Launch Assist, Hill Descent Control, Adaptive Load Control, and Emergency Brake Assistance.

New Ranger also offers outstanding fuel economy, with a more efficient powertrain range – enhanced by Auto-Start-Stop technology, new final drive ratio options and the introduction of Electric Power Assisted Steering – delivering reductions in fuel consumption of up to 17 per cent.**

Fuel consumption and CO2 emissions are specified for a vehicle variant and not for a single car. The applied standard test procedure enables comparison between different vehicle types and different manufacturers. In addition to the fuel efficiency of a car, driving behaviour as well as other non-technical factors play a role in determining a car's fuel/energy consumption, CO2 emissions and electric range. CO2 is the main greenhouse gas responsible for global warming.
