DUBAI, UAE. November 02, 2017 – Ford this week launched the adaptable and versatile Transit Custom refrigerated van at Gulfood Manufacturing Show, the largest food and beverage manufacturing exhibition in the Middle East, winning the coveted ‘Highly Commended’ Industry Excellence Award in the process.
The honour, as part of the Supply Chain Awards, was bestowed on Transit Custom in the ‘Best Commercial Vehicle – Light/Heavy’ segment, and is another noteworthy recognition of the Ford van’s leading position, having already secured the maximum 5 Star Euro NCAP Advanced Rewards rating for its innovative safety technologies – the first vehicle in its class to do so.
“Ford is pleased to have been recognised with an Industry Excellence Award at the Gulfood Manufacturing show, the Middle East’s biggest show of its kind,” said Terry Rayner, director of Commercial Vehicles at Ford Middle East and Africa. “Transit Custom is an ideal accompaniment to any business that requires refrigeration on the move, and we’re delighted that industry experts at Gulfood have realised its potential.”
Working closely with Al Tayer, RTS – Thermo King’s UAE distributor – has up-fitted the Transit Custom with a refrigerated solution, demonstrating its suitability for a range of applications, from meat and seafood transportation, to floral delivery and more.
Transit Custom’s optimised body offers class-leading load space up to 8.3 cubic-metres, wide side-load doors and rear doors that can open up to 180 degrees for easy loading access.
Transit Custom can also claim class-leading fuel efficiency which, combined with the 80-litre fuel tank, delivers a range of up to 1,100 klm between refuels. Less time spent refuelling increases productivity, giving back an estimated 15 hours a year.
To maximise occupant protection Transit Custom features ultra-high-strength Boron steel. An enhanced restraint system makes curtain airbags available for the front seat occupants, and it is the first vehicle in its class to receive the maximum 5 Star Euro NCAP Advanced Rewards rating for its innovative safety technologies.
Transit Custom also boasts the largest clear windscreen glass area of any vehicle in its class, combines a driver-focused cockpit with car-like ergonomics, and boasts innovative stowage features and excellent access.
The adaptability of Transit Custom means it’s the perfect accompaniment to a great deal of businesses – from meat and seafood transportation, to floral delivery and more – with a wide range of options and applications for its interior.
Held at Dubai World Trade Centre between October 31 and November 2, Gulfood Manufacturing Show is the largest show of its kind in the Middle East. Ford Custom Transit will be on display for the three-day event in the Logistics section at the exhibition.
