Matt Godlewski

Matthew Godlewski is Vice President, International Government Affairs.  He was appointed to this role in January 2022.  Godlewski oversees a global team responsible for shaping legislation, regulations, and policies to advance the Ford+ plan for growth and value creation outside of the U.S. through trusted governmental relationships and policy expertise.  He manages Ford’s global trade policy strategy with the U.S. and foreign governments and the company’s international geopolitical risk portfolio.  Godlewski is based in Washington, DC.

From 2022 to 2025, Godlewski also served as Vice President of Government and Community Affairs for Ford of Europe and was based at company’s European headquarters in Cologne, Germany.  While in Europe, Godlewski was responsible for shaping evolving policy priorities in the U.K., EU, Germany, Spain, Romania, and Türkiye, negotiating key industrial investments across Europe, and managing the company’s community engagement.  He also served as a Member of the Supervisory Board of Ford-Werke GmbH.

Godlewski joined Ford in 2017 as Director, Government and Stakeholder Relations and was appointed Vice President, U.S. Government Relations in 2020.  Prior to joining Ford, he was President of NGVAmerica, a national trade association dedicated to the development of a sustainable U.S. market for heavy-duty vehicles powered by natural gas.  There he managed relationships with the U.S. Congress and federal agencies to advance the mission of NGVAmerica’s membership of over 200 global companies, small businesses, and investor-owned natural gas utilities.

From 2007 to 2014, Godlewski served as Vice President of State Affairs at the Alliance of Automobile Manufacturers, where he led a team responsible for shaping policy issues across state governments. Prior to joining the automotive industry, he held policy and government affairs positions with Paris, France based Pernod Ricard, Seagram Spirits and Wine Group and Universal Studios.  Godlewski previously served on the boards of the Michigan Chamber of Commerce, Detroit Regional Chamber of Commerce, State Legislative Leaders Foundation, and Cornerstone Foundation of Michigan.

A graduate of Michigan State University’s James Madison College, Godlewski holds a bachelor's degree in American Public Affairs.
