Ford’s Water Achievements Profiled in Michigan Blue Economy Report

On April 7, the Michigan Economic Center at Prima Civitas and the Grand Valley State University Annis Water Resources Institute released Michigan Blue Economy, a report designed to spur strategic actions to expand and grow the State's already blue economy, and help Michigan to become the world's freshwater and water innovation capital.

In the report, Ford Motor Company is profiled as a company leading the way in developing new water technology products and services. The report notes that Ford has cut water use “in everything from cooling towers to paint operations” since 2000. 

Ford is the only automaker profiled in the report.

Other notable sustainability achievements profiled in the report include:

· Ford was named Best Global Green Brand by Interbrand in 2014

· Ford has reduced its total global water use by 61%, or more than 10 billion gallons, since 2000

· Ford decreased the total amount of water used around global facilities, from 64 cubic meters per          year to 25 million cubic meters
