Bill Ford Statement on the Passing of Ernie Lofton

The following statement is attributable to Bill Ford, executive chairman, Ford Motor Company on the August 6 passing of Ernie Lofton who served as vice president of the National Ford Department of the UAW from 1989 to 1998:

"Ernie Lofton cared deeply about people and was a lifelong champion of economic and social justice.  A strong and effective advocate for UAW members, he also understood that it was in everyone’s best interest to make sure our company was successful.  He made tremendous contributions to the auto industry and to our community, and will be greatly missed.  Our thoughts and prayers go to his family and friends."
