DEARBORN, Mich., Jan. 4, 2017 - Ford Motor Company’s total December U.S. sales of 239,854 vehicles were up 0.3 percent. Retail sales increased 5 percent last month, with 183,454 vehicles sold According to Eric Merkle it’s the company’s best December retail performance since 2004. Here to interpret these numbers is Ford Sales Analyst Eric Merkle.
Cu t#1 “ Our retail sales were up 5 percent and that was our best December retail sales performance since 2004. And that was really lead by Ford SUV’s and also trucks.” :11
F-Series led the way by being up 3 percent but SUV sales continued to climb charting a 6 percent increase in sales.
Cut #2 “We sold 87,512 F-Series pick-up trucks in December, that was a 3 percent increase, but our best sales month going back 11 years, This also gave us a total for the year for F-Series of 820,799 Trucks and that made F-Series America’s best-selling pick-up truck for the 40th consecutive year.” :28 sec.
The company’s sales were the best in ten years.
Cut #3 “If you look at overall sales for the year Ford sales totaled 2,614,697 vehicles. This was our best sales year in a decade. And it also, if you take a look the Ford brand, it again was the best-selling brand in America for its seventh consecutive year.” :20 sec.
Overall, Lincoln sales were up 18 percent for the month with 12,791 vehicles sold.
Cut #4 “We had strong performance from the all-new Continental with 1,845 cars sold, which really contributed to a 28 percent increase in Lincoln December car sales. Also if we look at Lincoln MKX, its sales of 3,527 were up 19 percent which drove the SUV side of Lincolns business as well which was up 13 percent for the month” :24
