Ian McLaughlin, is Global Director, Design Technical Operations at Ford Motor Company. After graduating from the University of the West of England, and spending 10 years in Body-Engineering, Ian began his career as an engineer responsible for vehicle concept layout development and new vehicle architecture at Rover Group.

Ian then moved to BMW Group in Munich where he served as Principle Engineer Design Concept & Feasibility for Land Rover and Mini programs, returning to Land-Rover UK in 2000 as Manager Design Concept and Feasibility. Since joining Ford in 2002, he has been in a series of leadership positions within Design Technical Operations.

Today, he is responsible for synthesizing inputs from Design, Engineering, and Program teams to create feasible designs and design surfaces. He is also responsible for studio program deliverable timing and progression, in addition to verification and design quality.
