Hermann Salenbauch is Director of Ford's Advanced Product Creation and Global Performance Vehicles. Based in Dearborn, Salenbauch leads the Basic Design of Ford's new product programs and also has global responsibility for the high performance group.
Prior to this appointment, Salenbauch served as Engineering Director in Ford's North American Car, Lifestyle Vehicles business unit. As Engineering Director, he led the engineering development of the Mustang, Focus, Freestar and Thunderbird vehicle lines.
Salenbauch came to Ford in February 2001. Before joining Ford, he worked at BMW for 18 years in crash, CAE, body structures and interiors, culminating as vehicle programs director for the Lower and Medium Cars at Rover, UK, a BMW subsidiary.
Hermann graduated from Stuttgart University in 1982 with a master's degree in Aeronautical Engineering. He went on to earn an MBA from Munich University in 1987.
Born in Germany, Hermann lives in greater Detroit with his wife and three children.
