Ed Krenz was named chief functional engineer, Ford Performance, in 2016. Krenz is in charge of bringing Ford Motor Company’s performance DNA to life through design and development, leading a global engineering team responsible for all functional attributes of Ford Performance products.
Prior to this, Krenz served as manager, powertrain integration, responsible for powertrain quality, cost, function and timing on a wide variety of programs. He was also manager of engine systems, and served as powertrain control systems manager, working between Dearborn and the United Kingdom.
Prior to these managerial roles, Krenz held positions in the design and release of exhaust systems and engine mounts; vehicle integration; powertrain noise, vibration and harshness; and powertrain manufacturing. He was also production supervisor for vehicle operations.
Krenz was one of 10 product development engineers selected for the inaugural product development leadership program in 2001 to promote development of future leaders. He completed the program in 2004.
Born in 1972 near Washington, D.C., Krenz completed his bachelor’s degree in material science and engineering from the University of Michigan in 1998, then earned a master’s degree in mechanical engineering from Purdue University.
