Juan De Peña

Juan De Peña serves as chief engineer for Lincoln Nautilus, responsible for developing and executing current and future programs for the popular two-row midsize luxury SUV. De Peña works with product planning, marketing, engineering, purchasing and manufacturing to ensure the vehicle fully address the needs of clients.

With the company for 24 years, De Peña has held several diverse positions in product development, as well as global leadership roles, including B-vehicle segment chief engineer for Ford Asia Pacific.

Born and raised in Brooklyn, De Peña studied mechanical engineering at the State University of New York at Buffalo. Prior to his time with Ford and Lincoln, he worked for NASA at the Goddard Space Flight Center in Greenbelt, Maryland. As a NASA graduate research fellow for three years, he worked on control systems engineering, with a focus on satellites.

While De Peña says the pace of work is faster at Ford and Lincoln, there are some similarities to his previous role at NASA. “Ford is every bit as cutting-edge in engineering modeling technology as NASA – precise systems controls for optimal accuracy and efficiency drive both organizations,” he said.

De Peña says he looks forward to seeing his work on the 2021 Nautilus interior come to life. “I am proud to have this opportunity, and excited to showcase our planned technology updates to set the Lincoln standard for connectivity at a higher level,” he said.

In his spare time, De Peña loves to travel and spend time with his wife and son, visiting extended family in New York and Boca Raton, FL whenever possible.
