Purposeful Technology Helps Lincoln Aviator Fly High Above Competitors

  • First in the automotive world use of DLP technology “Head-Up” Aviator’s advanced credentials
  • With the arrival of Aviator, Lincoln’s most advanced suite of driver-assist technologies became available in an upgrade aptly named Lincoln Co-Pilot360 Plus
  • Aviator has enjoyed a stellar summer of sales, setting new records for model monthly sales

DUBAI, U.A.E., September 15, 2020 – Luxury customers expect their vehicles to be more than a moving sanctuary; they want them to be smart devices on wheels. And though Lincoln Aviator embodies quiet flight, it also comes packed with purposeful technological capabilities, while voice-activated SYNC®3 takes care of connectivity.

“Lincoln’s newest three-row, premium large utility vehicle elevates the brand’s design vision while delivering on tenets of beauty, gliding, human, and a crafted sanctuary,” said Nicolas Lory, managing director, Lincoln Direct Markets. “But Aviator’s standard and available technology, help it soar to high scores for technophiles, too.”

Aviator delivers a wealth of intuitive technologies designed to assist the driver while enhancing the overall experience of the journey. Right from the start, the suspension system on Presidential trim automatically lowers the vehicle to “greet” the driver, adding a new level of sophistication to Lincoln’s signature welcome lighting embrace. The convenience of this feature makes loading cargo easier as well.

Even the power-folding sideview mirrors do more than you’d ever expect of them, featuring auto-dimming on the driver’s side, BLIS (Blind Spot Information System) with cross-traffic alert, LED turn signal indicators, Lincoln signature lighting, security approach lamps, and a unique Lincoln welcome mat. Once on the road, Aviator’s active grille shutters automatically open and close to maximise aerodynamic efficiency to help maintain ideal engine operating temperature.

And to ensure Aviator’s quiet flight is not interrupted, active noise control (ANC) helps create a tailored sound experience by electronically reducing, or even cancelling, low-frequency noise. Using microphones in the cabin to detect unwanted sounds, ANC sends opposing sound waves through the vehicle’s speaker system, refining the ambient sound in the cabin.

Lincoln can boast of being the first automotive manufacturer to use Digital Light Projection (DLP) – the same technology used in digital movie theatres – in its head-up display. DLP technology allows the display to be viewed even while wearing polarised sunglasses. The system, which offers a custom driving experience by permitting the driver to select what they want to see, projects information off the windshield and focuses the image near the end of the bonnet approximately seven feet in front of the driver. Display options include available adaptive cruise control settings, lane-keeping system information, navigation directions, and standard driving instructions.

The 360-Degree Camera – which actually consists of four cameras – with split-view display allows the driver to see what is directly in front of or behind the vehicle, including cross-traffic views. It also allows the driver to see a top-down view of the area outside the vehicle, including blind spots, providing invaluable visibility around the vehicle in parking maneouvres.

Also new to Lincoln when Aviator launched, is an available technology that enables Aviator to “see” most potholes or uneven pavement and immediately make suspension adjustments to keep the ride as smooth as possible. Adaptive Suspension with Road Preview uses an advanced forward camera to constantly scan the road, seamlessly adjusting the suspension as needed.

All Lincoln vehicles come standard with a suite of driver-assist features known as Lincoln Co-Pilot360. With the arrival of Aviator, Lincoln’s most advanced suite of driver-assist technologies is available in an upgrade aptly named Lincoln Co-Pilot360 Plus. It adds:

  • Traffic Jam Assist helps guide the vehicle using adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go, and lane centring
  • Evasive Steer Assist offers assistance to the driver to help avoid a collision with a slower or stopped vehicle; it provides additional steering support when a collision cannot be avoided by braking alone
  • Reverse Brake Assist can help you stop the vehicle while backing up if Aviator’s integrated rear sensors and camera detect an obstacle at the rear
  • Active Park Assist Plus removes the stress from parking by taking over steering, shifting, braking and acceleration functions with the touch of a button to navigate parallel and perpendicular parking spaces with ease

SYNC®3
Smartphone integration was stepped up for SYNC 3, with several fantastic features, including Apple CarPlay, which allows iPhone users to make phone calls, access music, send and receive text messages, and get directions optimised for traffic conditions via voice control while the drivers' eyes stay focused on the road. The system is also compatible with Siri Eyes Free which allows for easy access to Siri with iPhones connected via Bluetooth.

Android users are able to activate Android Auto, which makes the platform's apps and services such as Google Search, Google Maps and Google Play Music accessible in a safe and seamless manner. The innovative communications and entertainment system supports both text and voice-activation in Arabic, enabling simpler control for drivers of the region.

Even in the second row, Aviator passengers can enjoy the convenience of purposeful technology through the standard 5.8-inch LCD touchscreen located on the rear of the front centre console, from where they can select audio, and climate controls, as well as access seat settings.

Lincoln Drive Modes’ five signature settings – Normal, Conserve, Excite, Slippery and Deep Conditions – allow clients to further customise their drive experience, while a 10.1-inch standard configurable LCD instrument cluster confirms their choices with beautiful, easy-to-read dynamic graphics and prompts.

“Lincoln is enjoying a period of impressive sales across the region, buoyed by Aviator, which represents the very best of our brand DNA,” said Nicolas continued. “It offers elegance, effortless performance and unparalleled versatility, and crucially for the modern discerning luxury customer, comes packed with advanced technologies.”

The Lincoln luxury SUV line-up is available for test drives now from your local Lincoln showroom.
